Easycart vs. Paddle: Which will meet your needs?

Easycart keeps selling simple. No website? No problem. With Easycart, you can start selling online right away. Plus, our no-code tool is easy to implement. Meanwhile, Paddle requires your own a website and won’t let you start selling until they’ve given it a thorough inspection. Imagine the disappointment if your launch gets delayed or worse, can’t happen because you didn’t meet certain criteria. Doesn’t sound too appealing, does it?

What keeps Paddle users up at night?

Paddle caters its services to SaaS companies. While smaller creators can use their platform, their focus remains on major IT players. They don’t ignore small sellers, but their customer support raises concerns. You’ll typically deal with bots, not people.

As a Merchant of Record, Paddle sells products on your behalf. Many online complaints highlight issues like incorrect subscription charges. Since invoices show Paddle’s contact details (not yours) confused customers often ask, “Who is Paddle?” The company created a tool to let users check charges by email, suggesting this is a frequent problem. Simply adding a seller’s name to invoices hasn’t fixed it.

Easycart shows your details on invoices. Customers always know who they’re buying from and how to contact you with questions. No confusion, no middleman.

Customer portal and content gating

When your customers purchase digital products, they anticipate immediate access. They also want the convenience of returning to their purchased items and managing them easily. These are standard expectations and not unreasonable ones.

Easycart

Easycart automatically creates buyer accounts for first-time customers unless you enable anonymous shopping. Customers can then access their panel to view purchases, manage subscriptions, download digital products, update payment methods, and request refunds or invoice changes.

Our login wall feature protects your products with just 5 minutes of setup. The system automatically verifies visitors - existing customers get instant access while others see your branded login page. Approved users can log in via password or magic link; others are redirected to purchase access.

Paddle

Paddle offers no content protection tools, forcing sellers to find external solutions. Currently, anyone with a link can access your products. While Paddle plans a customer portal this year, its effectiveness remains uncertain. Easycart already delivers these features today.

Easylove: Customer reviews

There’s a high chance that you read product reviews and testimonials before making a purchase decision. You want to understand other users’ experiences, especially when you’re uncertain about a product or service’s quality. Your customers behave in the same way.

Easycart

Easycart is part of the Easytools suite, which includes Easylove, a dedicated tool for gathering customer reviews. Easycart and Easylove work together to automate the process of collecting customer testimonials. It also allows you to display reviews as a “wall of love” on your website or directly in your cart.

In Easycart, you can automate requests for reviews after a purchase. If you want to request reviews from past customers, you can craft a message in the dashboard and send it to many recipients at once.

Reviews from Easylove can be displayed in your cart - above the price, under price variants, or at the bottom of the cart in a carousel. You have the freedom to customize the look of the reviews. From changing the color scheme, view type, text layout, and enable or disable avatars and stars next to the review. You can also import reviews from Google and then sort them by date or star rating.

Paddle

Paddle primarily focuses on processing payments and settlements, and does not support collecting product reviews. While these functions are important, running a business involves more than just invoices and taxes.

If you’re using Paddle or planning to do so, this involves selecting the right tool, setting up the integration, and then either automating or manually collecting and publishing reviews, which can be time-consuming.

1-click payments

One-click payments streamline online shopping. A single click completes the transaction—no data fields, lengthy forms, or multi-step processes. This quick method enhances user experience and increases conversions.

Easycart

Our experience and studies prove 1-click payments boost conversions. That’s why we built this into Easycart from the start. When customers buy from any Easycart seller, we securely store their payment details. Next time, they can checkout with one click. No forms, just instant purchases in seconds.

What if your customer doesn’t have an Easycart account? No problem! Our checkout only asks for essential details. Even with a few fields, we keep payments fast.

Easycart features a Pay-what-you-want option, empowering your customers to determine the value of your product. We also facilitate installment purchases and deferred payments. We accommodate all modern payment methods, including quick transfers through Przelewy24, BLIK, card payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Paddle

Paddle currently does not allow your customers to make one-click payments. According to official data, they plan to introduce this feature. This is great proof that one-click payments are indeed a crucial feature that has a real impact on the purchasing process.

Like Easycart, the Paddle platform offers its sellers access to all modern payment methods. It also allows automatic adjustment of language and currency in the cart based on the active language in the user’s internet browser. However, it does not allow for installment purchases and deferred payments. It also does not offer a Pay-what-you-want feature.

Affiliate marketing is an effective way to promote products in return for a small commission on sales. It provides an additional avenue for reaching customers through dependable partners, helping you attain your revenue targets more swiftly.

Easycart

Easycart allows you to generate an unlimited number of affiliate links easily and track your partners’ performance. You can create an affiliate link by adding a specific parameter to the URL or simply selecting “Copy link for partner” when publishing your product. The Easycart seller panel enables you to track sales results from your affiliate links. The “Referrals” tab displays detailed sales statistics for each of your partners. Furthermore, using integrations can automate settlements with partners.

Paddle

Paddle used to offer an affiliate program, but it is no longer available. If you want others to promote your business, you must use external solutions, which can complicate the process. Such a method requires integrating with an additional tool and does not provide all your sales data in one place.

Purchasing for others

This feature is not only beneficial for software subscriptions (where a buyer can purchase multiple licenses and assign them to their employees), but also for digital products and event tickets.

Easycart

Easycart’s “purchasing for others” works for single payments and subscriptions, with bulk buying options. Customers can buy subscriptions for employees or entire teams, each recipient gets access notifications but only the buyer/admin can manage the subscription.

This works for all digital products - like e-books and event tickets (which Paddle doesn’t support). Easycart simplifies event sales:

  • Sell workshop/conference tickets in bulk
  • Assign tickets like subscriptions
  • Generate unique QR codes for verification
  • Scan codes to view ticket details (package type, bonuses)
  • Manage attendee credits for recurring events
Paddle

Paddle focuses on managing subscriptions, targeting software industry companies. If you’ve used Paddle, you know that you can sell digital products (like e-books) or software there. However, you can’t sell tickets or entry passes. If you plan to conduct workshops or organize a conference, you’ll need to find another solution for ticket sales.

Dynamic pricing

As a seller, you know how important it is to manage prices flexibly. Sometimes, you want to sell the same product at different prices. With Easycart, you can do this with just a few clicks!

Easycart

The dynamic pricing feature lets you to sell the same product or service at different prices. Simply send your customer a link with your custom price (e.g. $249 USD instead of $199 USD). In the product panel under sharing, there’s an option labeled “Share with price…” where you input your desired price. No need to create duplicate products to adjust prices.

Easycart also offers great flexibility with pricing and promotions. With the “old price” feature, you can show a crossed-out original price alongside the new discounted price. This highlights the savings for customers, potentially prompting quicker purchase decisions.

Paddle

Paddle does not offer dynamic pricing features. However, you can set more than one price for a product and add country-specific prices. It is up to you to decide whether the prices should include tax or not. At Easycart, we offer the “net price priority” feature where the net price appears as the main price (at the top, in larger font), and below it is the gross price, which is charged at the time of purchase.

Easycart - Your alternative to Paddle

While both platforms aim to support online sales, they serve distinct audiences. Paddle focuses exclusively on SaaS businesses, while Easycart empowers company owners and digital creators across all industries.

You might question whether our broad focus compromises quality compared to Paddle’s niche approach. Rest assured, our platform delivers a robust suite of features developed by experts with 15+ years in online selling.

Additional tools

Alongside online sales, Easytools enable you to generate terms of service and privacy policies, showcase product/service reviews, track promotion end times, incorporate a FAQ section on your site, create a course platform, and much more!

Lower fees and fair pricing plans

Let’s talk money. Paddle charges a commission of 5% + 50¢ per transaction. In comparison, Easycart’s commission is even more attractive, starting at just 1%. We offer three pricing plans tailored to varying sales levels:

  • Entrepreneur - 1%
  • Side Project - 2%
  • Starter - 3%

You can use Easycart for free until your first sale, and as your earnings grow, our commission decreases.

Additionally, our model leads to lower churn, allows you to build the value of your business if you plan to sell it in the future, and doesn’t lock you in. All customers are yours on your Stripe account. We also make compliance straightforward, allowing you to manage thresholds and countries you sell to, so you can avoid most taxes up to millions in revenue, and download readymade tax reports.

What payment methods do you support?

We’re all about flexibility, so we accept all modern payment methods. This includes quick transfers, card payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, as well as installment and deferred payment options. We're currently implementing PayPal and local payment methods popular in various countries, for even better conversions.

You can also integrate with an invoice service, or you can issue invoices directly through Stripe.

Do I need my own Stripe account?

Yes, you’ll need your own Stripe account. Think of Easycart as a user-friendly “overlay” for Stripe, allowing you to comfortably sell and offer a range of additional functions.

Is Easycart safe?

The commission fees will be taken directly from your Stripe balance as transactions occur. At the end of the month, we’ll send you a single invoice summarizing the charges.

How is the commission calculated?
