Can I copy someone's legal docs or use templates?
We strongly advise against copying someone else's privacy policy or terms. The chances that they'll cover all aspects of your business and protect you as they should are practically zero. The same goes for static templates - they won't update when the law changes, so you risk non-compliance.
Will a simple cookie notice ensure compliance?
Unfortunately, no. According to most regulations, it’s not enough to just ask users for permission to handle their data. You must also pause any tracking until they provide consent. We highly recommend using Easycookie in conjunction with Google Tag Manager for this purpose.
Where should I put my legal docs?
The usual approach is to link your privacy policy and terms and conditions in your website footer. They should also appear on your checkout page or anywhere else you process user data - for example, your privacy policy should be linked on your cookie consent banner.
What is Google Consent Mode v2?
In March 2024, Google launched an upgraded system, named Consent Mode v2 (GCM v2), to manage user consents for cookie data use in the European Economic Area (EEA). The aim is to fine-tune the behaviour of tags from Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Google Tag Manager based on the permissions granted by users.
Why having a cookie notice is so important?
Each site is required by law to have a mechanism such as Easycookie. Otherwise you risk very heavy penalties. This year the penalties have already been imposed on entrepreneurs who have not complied with the obligation to notify and collect consents regarding cookies.
